GOLFING
With fantastic courses in some of the most spectacular locations, Galway is the perfect destination for a memorable golfing trip. Not only can you find a natural links golf course in the stunning Connemara region, you can also play on entertaining and challenging courses designed by ex-professionals of the game. Apart from teeing off on some of the best courses in the country and the challenge of the fairways, the views across the incredible surrounds as you make your way around the courses make for a truly enjoyable golfing experience.
Furthermore, at most golf courses you can also find some wonderful off-the-course experiences too. You can get in some practice at the driving range, take some one-to-one lessons with ex-pro golfers or even treat yourself to fantastic food and drinks in the welcoming clubhouses. It’s no wonder that people from all over the world come to Galway to experience the greens and the impressive but unforgiving fairways.
Most golf courses in Galway are open all year round. However, courses are in best condition and weather is most suitable for golfing from April to October. In summer, daylight hours can stretch up to 10pm too, so two rounds and a lazy lunch can easily fit into a day. We recommend to always call ahead for availability and book your tee times in advance. Some courses offer golf carts and a caddy service too, so be sure to enquire about these services. For green fees, most clubs offer special rates for visitors and groups so be sure to ask about any special offers from the club in advance. Now that you have all the information you need, check out the courses below and when you’re planning to tee off somewhere special, we think we know where you should go…
