At the Thomas Dillon’s Claddagh store on Quay street, within their small Claddagh ring museum, you can witness the world’s smallest claddagh ring ever made!

The ring which is on the top of a tailor’s pin, can be seen through the lens of a magnifying glass highlighting the design and the sheer complexities that must have gone into making a ring of this size.

The Claddagh Ring is believed to have originated in the fishing village of the “Claddagh” on the banks of Galway Bay. The area is now part of Galway City. The ring shows two hands holding a heart which wears a crown. The iconic ring symbolises love (the heart), loyalty (the crown) and friendship (the hands).
