WORLD'S SMALLEST CLADDAGH RING
If you are looking for a unique attraction during your time in Galway City, you might want to check out the world’s smallest Claddagh ring at Thomas Dillon’s Jewelers on Quay Street. This tiny ring, which is on the top of a tailor’s pin, can only be seen through a magnifying glass. It is a remarkable feat of craftsmanship and a testament to the skill and dedication of the makers of the original Claddagh rings.
A Claddagh ring is a traditional Irish ring that features two hands holding a heart with a crown on top. The ring symbolises love, loyalty and friendship, and is often worn as a wedding or engagement ring, or as a gift between friends or family. The name Claddagh comes from the fishing village of the same name on the banks of Galway Bay, where the ring is believed to have originated in the 17th century.
Thomas Dillon’s Jewellers are the oldest jewellers in Ireland and the only makers of the authentic Claddagh ring. They have been crafting the Claddagh ring since 1750, and have passed down their knowledge and expertise through generations of family members. They are also members of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, and each of their rings comes with a certificate of authenticity and a lifetime guarantee.
The world’s smallest Claddagh ring is on display at Thomas Dillon’s small Claddagh ring museum, which is located inside their store on Quay Street. The museum showcases some of the very first Claddagh rings made by goldsmiths Nicholas Burge, Richard Joyce and George Robinson in the 18th century, as well as other historical and cultural artefacts related to the Claddagh ring. The museum is free to enter and open every day from 10 am to 5 pm (12 pm to 4 pm on Sundays).
Thomas Dillon’s Jewellers are not only the makers of the original Claddagh ring, but also the award-winning Claddagh ring. They have won several prizes for their design and quality. They offer a wide range of Claddagh rings for men, women and children, in different metals, sizes and styles. You can also find other beautiful Irish jewellery, such as brooches, necklaces and earrings, made with high-quality materials and craftsmanship.
Whether you are looking for a gift for yourself or someone special, or just want to admire the world’s smallest Claddagh ring, Thomas Dillon’s Jewellers are a must-see attraction in Galway City.
