5.0
Rated 5.0 out of 5
Synge’s Chair is a lookout at the edge of a sheer limestone cliff on the western edge of Inishmaan island. The cliff ledge is often sheltered from the wind making the chair a perfect spot for a comfortable seat for John Millington Synge.
Synge was an Irish playwright, writer and collector of folklore. He was a key figure in the Irish Literary Revival and was one of the co-founders of the Abbey Theatre. He is best known for his play The Playboy of the Western World. Synge spent many summers on the Aran Islands where he collected many stories and folklore and perfected his Irish language skills.
