Foreign Exchange is an Irish-Australian kids television programme that aired in 2004. The series followed the lives of an Irish girl, Hannah, and an Australian boy, Brett, who are brought together from opposite sides of the world through a secret transfer portal located in the basement of Brett’s house and in Hannah’s college. The show explored the cultural differences and similarities between the two countries, as well as the adventures and challenges that the teens face in their new environments.

The series was filmed in two major locations: one in Ireland, and the other in Perth, Western Australia. The Irish location was Castlehackett House near Tuam in North Galway. This historic house, built in the 18th century, served as the setting for O’Keeffe’s College, the boarding school where Hannah studies. The house features a distinctive octagonal tower, a grand staircase, and a spacious basement where the portal is hidden. The house is surrounded by scenic landscapes, such as forests, fields, and lakes.

Foreign Exchange is a fun and engaging TV series that showcases the beauty and diversity of Ireland and Australia. It also depicts the friendship and romance that develop between the main characters, as well as their personal growth and learning. The were 26 episodes produced in total of the series.
