From box office blockbusters, to captivating screen romances, and from belly-aching laughter, to tissues at the ready tearjerkers, Galway has provided the backdrop for some of cinema and television’s most endearing moments, with a range of wonderful and unique films and series that were shot on location here.

Retrace the footsteps of stars such as John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara in The Quiet Man, Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson in Marley and Me, Amy Adams in Leap Year, and Brendan Gleeson in the Guard, while saying the famous line, “It’s My Field”, said by Richard Harris in the gripping film, The Field. You can also discover locations from beautiful Irish feature films such as Into The West, Poitín, The Matchmaker and more too.

What’s more you can check out the popular TV series, Jack Taylor, which is shot throughout Galway City or experience the wonderful Ros Na Rún series, which is the longest running soap opera produced entirely in the Irish-language and broadcasted by the TG4 station which is based in Connemara.
