If you are looking for a scenic and relaxing beach getaway in Galway, you might want to consider visiting Spiddal Beach or Trá na mBán (Ladies’ Strand) as it’s otherwise known in Spiddal (An Spidéal). This beach is easily accessible from the road and offers stunning views across Galway Bay and the Burren region of Co. Clare. Adjacent to the beach you can also find the wonderful and colourful Spiddal Craft Village.

Spiddal Beach / Trá na mBán is a sandy beach with some rocky patches and a gentle slope into the water. It is suitable for swimming at low tide, but be aware of the strong currents and waves at high tide. The beach has several facilities for visitors, such as free car parking, lifeguards (during the summer months), wheelchair access and picnic benches. Toilets can be found in the nearby craft village or petrol station. There is also a playground nearby for children and a pier for fishing.

Trá na mBán is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, especially during the summer months. You can enjoy the fresh sea breeze, the warm sun and the tranquil atmosphere of this charming beach. Whether you want to take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean, build sandcastles with your family, watch the boats sail by or simply relax on the sand, Trá na mBán is a perfect destination for a day out in Galway.
