Ballyloughane Beach is a lovely beach situated in Galway City. It is located on the east side of the city, about 4 km’s from the city centre. It is a sandy beach with a gentle slope and a shallow water depth, making it ideal for families and children. It is also a popular choice for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach also offers stunning views of Galway Bay and the Clare Hills.

Ballyloughane Beach is supervised by lifeguards during the summer months (June to August) from 11 am to 7 pm. The lifeguards are trained and certified by the Irish Water Safety Association and can provide first aid and rescue services if needed. You can also contact them for advice on water safety and tide times. There are public toilets located at the entrance of the beach, near the car park. They are open from 10 am to 8 pm during the summer months and from 10 am to 6 pm during the winter months. They are cleaned and maintained regularly by the Galway City Council.

There is a large car park at the entrance of the beach and is free of charge. You can also find several picnic tables and benches along the beach, where you can enjoy your food and drinks while admiring the scenery. There are also bins for disposing of your rubbish. Please note that barbecues are not allowed on the beach, as they can pose a fire hazard and damage the environment.

The beach is accessible for people with disabilities, as there are ramps and paths leading to the beach from the car park and the toilets. There are also wheelchair-friendly picnic tables and benches along the beach. However, there are no disabled toilets or changing rooms at the beach.

Ballyloughane Beach is currently not a blue flag beach, which means that it is currently not meeting high standards of water quality, environmental management, safety and services. The blue flag is awarded by an international organisation called the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which monitors and evaluates beaches around the world. The blue flag is a symbol of excellence and trustworthiness for visitors and locals alike.
