GUINNESS TOWER
Described as a hidden gem due to it being surrounded by tall trees in a woodland area near Ashford Castle in Cong, the Guinness tower, otherwise known as Leonard’s tower, is like a castle out of a fairytale.
The tower was built by Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness on the grounds of Ashford Castle in 1864 and it stand’s over 20 metres in height. There is a steep climb on a spiral staircase to the top but you are rewarded by stunning tree tops views over the Ashford Estate.

Fairy Tale Tower
Easy accessible from the Abbey, situated in woods with most remarkable ancient trees.
Accessible via foot from Cong village
No parking immediately nearby, but easily walked in 20 minutes through lush forest from Cong. While there are no views beyond treetops, it’s a nicely constructed tower & worth a climb.
