Galway Film Fleadh
The Galway Film Fleadh is a week-long international film festival which takes places in Galway from Tuesday 11th to Sunday 16th July 2023.
Marking the 35th annual event, the 6-day long international festival features screenings of feature films and shorts through submissions at various locations throughout Galway, along with other workshops, discussions, events and much more taking place. Founded in 1989 the festival was a platform for Irish filmmakers to exhibit their work to their peers, and the central goal of the Galway Film Fleadh remains unchanged: to be a platform for the boldest new films, and to bring audiences & filmmakers from around the world together, to celebrate a shared passion for film. Running alongside the festival each year, the Film Fair includes a range of industry-led events including an annual pitching competition, masterclasses, case studies, and an annual industry-wide conference, the Fleadh Forum. In addition, as a festival of discovery, the Galway Film Fleadh takes care to nurture the next generation of filmmaking talent through the young audiences of the festival, the Junior Film Fleadh.
Notable festival attendees of the past have included stars such as Martin Sheen, Amanda Plummer, Brendan Gleeson, Anjelica Huston, Michael Fassbender, Peter O’Toole, Jessica Lange, Bill Pullman, Jeremy Irons, Maureen O’Hara, Gabriel Byrne, Pierce Brosnan, Woody Harrelson, Sir Richard Attenborough, Michael Moore, Jim Sheridan, Neil Jordan, and many many more to name but a few.
